Dolly Parton fans, get ready: The country music legend is coming to Netflix.
The streaming service just announced an eight-episode series based on Dolly's "songs, stories, and inspiring life." Each episode of the Netflix show will be based on one of Dolly's songs, similar to her 2015 NBC special, "Coat of Many Colors." Best of all, Dolly will lead the show as producer, co-star, and songwriter. Oh yes, there will be singing.
“As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music,” Dolly said. “I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix. We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations, and I want to thank the good folks at Netflix and Warner Bros. TV for their incredible support.”
Funnily enough, Dolly's former "9 to 5" co-star Lily Tomlin accidentally teased the big news last week at an event for her Netflix series, "Grace and Frankie."
According to Indiewire, Lily spilled the beans when asked if Dolly would ever guest star on "Grace and Frankie," Lily's show with Jane Fonda.
“We’d like to see Dolly and we keep hoping we’ll work out a schedule, but she’s just so busy,” Lily said. "She does so many things, and now she has a big show deal herself at Netflix, so I don’t know.”
