Dream House of the Week: Inspiring art home

Every inch of this home will inspire you

Everywhere you look in this Toronto home, you'll find something to be inspired by. Whether it's the playful color palette, the fascinating art pieces or the whimsical personal touches, there is so much to see in this artistic home it almost feels like a piece of art itself. "This couple has five young children, and they wanted this house to be fun and entertaining for them," Powell & Bonnell's Albert Limshue, who designed the home, told HouseBeautiful.com. "That was our whole approach: Make it fun."The family drew much of their inspiration from their travels and their favorite hotels. The family selected or already owned much of the art, which created a starting point for each room's design. The home features a variety of fascinating pieces from many different artists, including the stunning mirrored tiger, a balloon bench by artist Satoshi Itasaka (that, thanks to Limshue's idea to attach it with aircraft cables, actually swings back and forth) and a lamp with its own unique pattern of moths. The approximately 10,000-square-foot home has 6 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms and hidden gems throughout the home: The reading nook features wallpaper that looks as if a child drew on the walls, but this was certainly intentional. You’ll find vibrant details all over the home, like the lime green sofa and the colorful stairs, but also some quirkier pieces, like the chandelier adorned with 50 taxidermy birds! Home sweet (artistic) home.
