New Orleans chef takes Southern classic dish and makes it her own
A New Orleans chef created an unusual twist with a Southern classic dessert.
Bergen Carman, chef de cuisine at Meril, competed in a Very Local cooking competition called 'Blind Kitchen' where she created a savory shortcake.
The dish is a spin-off of the classic, which normally includes a pastry, strawberries and whipped cream.
Carman's recipe instead flipped the dish upside down by using chicken liver mousse with cheddar biscuits.
