SHORE. LET’S GO BACK TO SAINT TAMMANY PARISH WHERE THE INCUMBENT IS ABOUT TO TAKE THE STAGE CLAIMING VICTORY TONIGHT IN THE PARISH PRESIDENT RACE. LET’S CHECK IN WITH ARIELLE BRUMFIELD, WHO’S THERE. AND THERE ARE OTHERS AS WELL THAT WILL BE SERVING AND WE’RE VERY, VERY EXCITED TO TO PREPARE FOR OUR OUR NEXT FOUR YEARS SERVING WITH NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS, SERVING WITH OUR STATE LEGISLATORS WILL HAVE SOME NEW STATE LEGISLATORS AS WELL AS THOSE WHO ARE CURRENTLY SERVING AS OUR NORTH SHORE DELEGATION AND WORKING WITH OUR CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION TO DC. I CAN TELL YOU THIS IS A GREAT NIGHT. YES, IT WAS. CLOSE 52 TO 40. 8 OR 50 1.5 TO 48.5. A CLOSE RACE. BUT EVERY RACE IS CLOSE. YES, CATHERINE IS KIND OF RUBBING ME NOW LIKE, OKAY. YES. OKAY. SO AS I SEE ALL THESE HAPPY FACES OUT HERE, WE’VE GOT PLENTY MORE TO ENJOY, PLENTY MORE TO DO. Mike Cooper has been reelected as St. Tammany Parish President. Cooper, a Republican, faced strong opposition from Greg Cromer, who is currently serving as the mayor of Slidell. Cromer scooped up several important endorsements leading up to the election.Cooper is a lifelong resident of Covington, where he was elected mayor of the city in 2011.He was sworn in as St. Tammany Parish president in January 2020.
