New video shows a Rex float striking a tree and becoming stuck during the parade on Mardi Gras Day. Video shows the float getting stuck near Jackson Avenue just before River Bend. The video comes as many were already questioning why both Zulu and Rex parades ran so late. Traditionally, the parades wrap up between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. This year, parades rolled so late that Rex didn't arrive at Gallier Hall until deep in the afternoon.By the time he got to the Intercontinental, the Queen was gone. She had to leave to get ready for the Rex Ball.The truck parades that follow Rex were still going deep into the night, which is a rare sight on Mardi Gras in New Orleans.WDSU has reached out to the city of New Orleans as well as NOPD regarding the delays.
