Gretna, Slidell preparing to kick off St. Patrick's Day parade season
Two southeast Louisiana parishes are preparing for St. Patrick's Day parades this weekend.
The Olde Towne Slidell St. Patrick's Day parade will roll Sunday afternoon.
This year's parade will be the 49th year. A special guest is reigning as duke, Slidell Police Department's own Daniel Seuzeneau.
The Slidell Police Department will also be throwing their highly sought-after St. Patrick's Day rubber ducks.
The parade begins at 1 p.m.
Gretna will also host its second-annual Italian-Irish parade Sunday at 12 p.m.
This year, Gretna's parade has grown to have more than 40 floats and more than 1,000 riders.
The parade is the biggest parade on the Westbank.
Throws include T-shirts, fresh produce, lots of cabbage, and seasonings.
The WDSU Parade Tracker is tracking both parades. You can download the app here.
