PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER MIKE NEELY, MARGARET ORR. IF THERE WAS A MOUNT RUSHMORE FOR TELEVISION NEWS IN NEW ORLEANS, SHE’D BE ON IT. 45 YEARS OF SERVING THIS GREAT COMMUNITY OF SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA. SHE STARTED HERE IN HER 20S, AND WHILE GROWING. UP ON TV, MARGARET ALSO RAISED A FAMILY. THREE WONDERFUL CHILDREN AND NOW THREE GRANDCHILDREN FROM A COVERAGE STANDPOINT, SHE’S DONE IT ALL FROM THE SERIOUS TO THE DOWNRIGHT SILLY. PARADES, PARTIES, PICNICS, AND EVEN POLITICS WITH A QUICK WIT SMILE THAT MAKES ANYONE FEEL COMFORTABLE IN HER PRESENCE. MARGARET HAS REPORTED LIVE AT SOME OF THE BIGGEST EVENTS IN THIS CITY. SHE’S BEEN IMMORTALIZED ON CANDLES, CARDS, T-SHIRTS, AND EVEN CARNIVAL FLOATS, BUT NONE OF THAT WOULD BE POSSIBLE IF SHE WASN’T THE BEST METEOROLOGIST IN THE CITY. SHE’S REALLY GOOD AT WHAT SHE DOES, TRUSTED, SEASONED, AND ACCURATE. FOR 45 YEARS, SHE’S KEPT YOU SAFE WHEN SEVERE WEATHER THREATENED, LETTING YOU KNOW WHEN TO HEAD TO HIGHER GROUND FOR A HURRICANE OR TO TAKE SHELTER FROM A TORNADO. SO YOU SAW THAT DURING STORMS. WE ALL REMEMBER TOO WELL KATRINA, ISAAC, AND IDA. HER FORECASTING HAS SAVED LIVES. HER LIFE SPENT AT THIS HISTORIC TV STATION, WDSU, A NEW ORLEANS INSTITUTION, THAT SHE WILL ALWAYS BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF. MY MARGOT WE WILL MISS YOU FROM ALL OF US HERE AT WDSU. THANK YOU AND CON
