Jefferson Parish council votes on major changes to 2025 Carnival
COMING TO CARNIVAL IN JEFFERSON PARISH NEXT YEAR. THIS INCLUDES EVERYTHING FROM ROUTE CHANGES TO FINANCIAL REPORTS AND RIDER SAFETY. THE METAIRIE CREWS THAT DON’T ROLL ON FAT TUESDAY WILL NOW GO BACK TO THE TRADITIONAL ROUTE, WHICH IS EAST ON VETERANS AND TO AVOID LAST MINUTE KREWE CANCELLATIONS LIKE WHAT WE SAW LAST YEAR, CREWS MUST PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION TO SHOW THAT THERE ARE NO OUTSTANDING BILLS THAT COULD PREVENT THEM FROM ROLLING METAIRIE MARDI GRAS HAS HAD ITS CHALLENGES AS YOU KNOW, AS YOU’RE FINDING OUT AND AS WE’VE ALL SEEN. SO ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO ENHANCE METAIRIE MARDI GRAS TO MAKE IT EASIER ON OUR CREWS, TO MAKE IT, TO MAKE IT AN EXPERIENCE PEOPLE WANT TO BE PART OF. I FULLY SUPPORT TODAY AND ALWAYS. THE COUNCIL ALSO MADE IT MANDATORY FOR RIDERS TO WEAR SAFETY HARNESSES AFTER A J.P. RIDER FELL OFF A FLOAT ON FAT

Jefferson Parish council votes on major changes to 2025 Carnival
Significant changes are being made ahead of next year's Carnival for Jefferson Parish. The changes include route changes, financial reports for krewes, and new rider safety requirements. The Metairie krewes that don't roll on Fat Tuesday will now go back to the traditional route, which is east on Veterans. To avoid any last minute krewe cancellations like last year, krewes will also have to provide documentation that show there are no outstanding bills that could prevent them from rolling. The Jefferson Parish council also made it mandatory for riders to wear safety harnesses after a rider fell off a float during Argus.
