Louisiana contraflow maps: Everything you need to know
The 2024 Hurricane Season is expected to be extremely active. It is important that all Louisiana residents prepare an evacuation plan and become familiar with the state's contraflow plan. Contraflow will be a last resort and, if used, traffic will flow east on Interstate 10 to the Slidell area, where Interstate 12, Interstate 59 and I-10 meet. From there, people can decide which way they want to go.Contraflow has been used twice in Louisiana: in 2005, for Hurricane Katrina, and in 2008, for Hurricane Gustav.Keep up with local news, weather and current events with the WDSU app here.
