LaPlace parade could see major route change next year for Carnival
OKAY TO CARNIVAL CENTRAL NOW AND NEW FROM SAINT JOHN PARISH. BIG CHANGES COULD BE COMING TO THE KREWE OF D-J PARADE IN LAPLACE NEXT YEAR. IN A VIDEO POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA, SHERIFF MIKE TRIGG OUTLINED HIS PROPOSAL FOR NEW ROUTE ONE THAT WILL MOSTLY USE AIRLINE HIGHWAY WILL. TREK SAYS THERE ARE MULTIPLE REASONS FOR THE CHANGE. THE MAIN ONE, PUBLIC SAFETY. THAT’S BECAUSE THE CURRENT ROUTE CROSSES RAILROAD TRACKS TWICE, CAUSING MAJOR GAPS BETWEEN FLOATS DISRUPTING THE PARADE. AND THERE ARE CERTAIN SPOTS WHERE 18 WHEELERS HAVE A TOUGH TIME TURNING. SHERIFF TRIGG IS ALSO SAYING THAT DEPUTIES ARE MORE SPREAD OUT ALONG THE ROUTE RIGHT NOW, MEANING LESS OFFICER PRESENCE, AND IF THEY MOVE TO AIRLINE, WELL, MORE PARADE GOERS COULD ACTUALLY WATCH IT.

Big changes could be coming to the Krewe of Dage for Carnival 2025. The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre is proposing major changes to the route for public safety reasons. In a video posted on Facebook, Tregre said the proposal would move the route mostly to Airline Highway. Tregre said the current route crossed the railroad tracks twice, which causes major gaps between floats and disrupts the parade. According to Tregre, it is also very hard for semitrailers to turn in some spots on the route. Tregre believes the move to Airline Highway would allow more people to watch the parade.
