'It's making our defense a little bit better': Saints LB Pete Werner on Klint Kubiak's offense

The New Orleans Saints continue fighting through the tough conditions this offseason. The Saints completed their second mandatory minicamp practice Wednesday. All eyes continue to be on new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.Kubiak has had a month of worth practices to work on his new offense, which Saints quarterback Derek Carr is getting comfortable in with each practice."It's going to be a process, we're not nearly the completed work of art. We got a long way to go but yeah I think everyday that he gets out here he gets more and more comfortable, not only with the scheme but with the players around him," Saints head coach Dennis Allen said. Carr is getting used to the offense and is so the entire defense. Defensive coordinator Joe Woods is familiar with Kubiak and knows the challenges his offense presents."I think it's the run and the play action and then the misdirection off of it, the bootlegs. For me, fortunately I was with Klint (Kubiak) twice in Minnesota and Denver, worked for his dad when his dad was a head coach. Kevin Stefanski obviously when he was in Cleveland, I worked under Kyle Shanahan so all parts of the same system," Woods said.Linebacker Pete Werner knows this offense has a lot of moving pieces."I like what they're doing, very excited for it. I just know it's making our defense a little bit better because we're having to do different things, not just not the normal offense we've been used to," Werner said. One other note from Wednesday's practice, cornerback Alontae Taylor didn't practice as he's dealing with an oblique injury.Allen said it's nothing serious and Taylor will be ready to go for the start of training camp.
