Growing up, stuffed animals kept us company. When storytime was too intense or bedtime was too scary, the friendly face of a favorite stuffed animal could bring feelings of safety and comfort. Using upcycled fur materials, Dina Denning brought that delightful feeling of having a friendly friend to adults in 1995. Whether it’s that old fur coat from the back of the closet or something left behind by a loved one, Denning transformed old, unused or unwanted fur into something beautiful. Denning obviously cares about the bears, and even includes her family in the bear-making process. “Just look at their little faces. Each one of them is different. Each fur turns out a bear differently and you know they all have a personality,” Denning said about her beloved creations. Watch the video to see how much care went into making these upcycled bears.
