All right, joining me now is John Hendrix on the Saints News Network. Alvin Kerra, not at the final minicamp practice for the Saints. Is this going to be *** distraction for the black and gold? Well, I think it's something obviously got to pay attention to. Right. And I, I think when you look at the last mini camp session, him being *** part of walkthroughs and then just kind of leaving and, and such. And Dennis Allen made *** point to say that look, I hadn't talked to him yet, but, you know, clearly it's contract related, that's obviously *** concern that they need to get looked at and with Christian mccaffrey getting his deal, I think there's something to it and he's going on his last year of the deal. He's owed *** lot of money next year, potentially, but there's void years built into his deal. So he's really not going to see that type of money. So I think it's something that they do need to give some attention to, to make sure that it isn't *** distraction. Once they get into camp, he's making good money, as you said, what could you do for *** guy who's, what, 29 years old. Yeah, I mean, look, Alvin Kamara is gonna be *** big focal point of this offense. There's no, no question about it. Right. Clint Kubiak's gonna use him *** lot. We've seen it. Uh, we saw it during mini camp the first two days. I think when you look at Alvin Kamara and his usage, he's gonna be on the uptick. He's gonna have *** lot better usage than we've seen in past years. So look, I think there is some validity there that he's going to have *** better year of production. But you look at guys behind him, Jamal Williams is going to be use better. You got Kendre Miller who's primed for *** lot more touches and such. So again, Kara in this offense has the potential to be something really special, really good, but, you know, you got to move past some of this stuff and the reality is when you're *** running back, it's not like the old days where you're *** 30 year old and, and you can last *** few more years. Once you hit that, you know, late twenties, you're, you're not as effective or not as uh viewed in high regard as you used to be an injury for the Saints tight end Jan Johnson, key player for that offense, *** foot surgery that he's having. Uh where do they go from here in terms of tight end without him? If he misses some time there in training camp and even maybe the beginning of the season. Yeah, it's tough because they didn't have Tommy Hudson out there. Michael Jacobson had one of the injuries but he came back out there as well. But, you know, Foster Moreau has, has, has done *** nice job out there doin ***, the undrafted rookie has looked really, really good, you know, they had *** UFL tight end tryout and such, but you know, it begs the question. Do you now look at going into training camp, *** Jimmy Graham situation, right? Because he's kind of leaving the ball on the Saints to figure out whether or not he's gonna come back and play again. I think that's *** quick and easy call. You know, he's going to be in shape and such, but not having Jawan Johnson for an extended period of time at some point during training camp, he should get there. I expect him to add to the roster, but they need *** Jan Johnson. They're going to try to make it work with what they've got at the moment, but I expect some additions coming. Uh, what do you think the biggest story of going into training camp will be for the Saints? Is it going to be the offense evolving under Clint Kubiak? Yeah, I think the offense has been the biggest focal point here, right? I, I think when you look at the offense and what Clint Kubiak has put in there, everybody you talk to has been excited about it, whether it's offensive players, defensive players, just the fact that defensive players are seeing stuff they just haven't seen and that gives them an opportunity to learn more in the way that the NFL has evolved. I mean, there's so many concepts that we're seeing the outside ru runs the zone stretch, all this stuff that you just don't see emotion, jet sweeps, all those types of things that you're just not seeing *** staple and you're seeing the right players being used two in it with Tyson Hill, Alvin Camaro, Chris Olave is getting his too, you know, so I think that is still the big storyline because *** lot of it hinges, you change the entire offensive staff up without the exception of Clancy Barone. Uh, this has to work. This is gonna be the difference whether they're going to make the playoffs or not because we expect the defense to be really good this season. And, uh, you know, with the offense, they've got to catch up another focal point of that offense is the offensive line, left tackle, right tackle. I mean, that offensive line has to work in order for Derek Carr to stay upright and for their offense to completely work. Yeah, and this offensive scheme is designed for Carr to get the ball out *** lot quicker and such, but you're right, this system doesn't work. This Clint Kubiak system doesn't work unless the offensive line is in intact. And so, and it's sound right now they do have guys that are, that they sign veterans like Shane Lemieux, uh, you know, just, and Herron and, uh, Lucas Patrick who've been in *** system like this, so they do have some vets, but, you know, look at *** team like the Lions, they built from the trenches within, if it works out with Trevor Penning Tally Fona And then obviously Nick Salari, then they do have ***, *** something there for this offensive line for years to come, but it has to work and we're not gonna know once until they put on the Pats. All right, appreciate your time. He is John Hendrix from the Saints News Network. Back to you.
