COME BACK ON. AT 516, LET’S SEND IT OVER TO METEOROLOGIST DEREK SIBLEY ON THIS FIRST WARNING. WEATHER IMPACT DAY. ALL RIGHT. THANKS FOR THAT. MORGAN. YEAH. HERE LOCALLY WE ARE DEALING WITH THE TROPICAL EFFECTS HERE FROM BERYL A LITTLE BIT AS WE ARE TRACKING SOME SHOWERS AND MAYBE EVEN SOME COUPLE OF THUNDERSTORMS AS WELL MIXED IN WITH SOME OF THOSE SHOWERS MOVING IN FROM THE WEST TO THE EAST. THAT COULD AFFECT YOUR MORNING COMMUTE. SO LET’S GET STRAIGHT TO WDSU FIRST. WARNING DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR. AND YOU CAN SEE THAT WE ARE TRACKING THOSE SHOWERS HERE AS THEY CONTINUE TO MOVE ABOUT THE AREA HERE THIS MORNING. LET’S START OFF BACK TO THE WEST NEAR THE THIBODAUX AREA, LOOKING AT SOME LIGHT SHOWERS HERE. CURRENTLY MOVING INTO YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION RIGHT NOW. I’M ALSO WATCHING SOME HEAVIER SHOWERS. BACK TO THE WEST OVER MORGAN CITY. THAT’S OUTSIDE OF OUR AREA, BUT MOVING INTO OUR GENERAL DIRECTION CLOSER TOWARDS THE RIVER PARISHES HERE TOO. NOW AS WE GO A LITTLE BIT FURTHER TOWARDS THE SOUTHEAST INTO LOWER PLAQUEMINES PARISH, DOWN TOWARDS BOOTHVILLE, THAT’S WHERE WE’RE TRACKING SOME SHOWERS HERE AS WELL. AND YOU CAN SEE THEY ARE MOVING THEIR GENERAL DIRECTION UP TOWARDS THE NORTH AND AT THE NORTHEAST. MEANWHILE, WE’RE SWITCHING OVER TO OUR HAMMOND DOPPLER RADAR ALONG THE NORTH SHORE, AND WE’RE ALSO WATCHING SOME SHOWERS AND A COUPLE OF STORMS TRACKING THEIR WAY FROM THE SOUTHWEST TO THE NORTHEAST. MAINLY FOCUSED NOW ACROSS PORTIONS OF WASHINGTON PARISH. AFTER WHAT WAS EARLIER OVER TANGIPAHOA PARISH. HERE’S A LIVE LOOK AT THE SATELLITE AND RADAR FROM THE PAST SIX HOURS. AND HERE IS THE REMNANTS OF BERYL ACROSS ARKANSAS. THAT’S WHERE THE CENTER IS. LOTS OF HEAVY RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS HERE, AFFECTING PORTIONS OF THE MIDWESTERN AND SOUTHERN UNITED STATES. AND THIS IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO MOVE TOWARDS THE NORTHEAST. THERE’S THAT TAIL END OF THE SYSTEM HERE. WITH THAT TROPICAL MOISTURE COMING UP FROM THE GULF HERE. AS WELL, PRODUCING SHOWERS AND SOME THUNDERSTORMS. AND THAT’S CURRENTLY AFFECTING OUR WEATHER HERE LOCALLY. NOW, THE GOOD THING IS, IS THAT THAT THE TROPICS, AT LEAST THE REST OF THE TROPICS, AND WE’RE NOT EXPECTING ANY DEVELOPMENT OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. SO THINGS WILL CONTINUE TO REMAIN QUIET OUT THERE FOR A WHILE. MEANWHILE, OUR TEMPERATURES ARE CURRENTLY INTO THE LOW TO MID 80S. WE GOT 84 AT LAKEFRONT ALSO IN SLIDELL, A LITTLE COOLER IN HAMMOND, CURRENTLY AT 79. IN HAMMOND AND 82 DEGREES RIGHT NOW AT THE AIRPORT FORECAST OVERALL TODAY A HIGH OF ABOUT 90. SOME MORNING SHOWERS, A BIT BREEZY, BUT THE GOOD THING IS WON’T BE AS HOT. SOUTHWEST BREEZES TODAY AROUND 10 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR. SUNSET AFTER 8:00. THIS EVENING. FORECAST HIGHS TODAY. UPPER 80S LOWER 90S. SO AGAIN, NOT AS HOT ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA. WE DO HAVE THOSE COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORIES STILL IN EFFECT HERE FOR ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COASTLINE. AND THAT GOES UNTIL 3:00 PM TODAY. BECAUSE OF THAT STRONG ONSHORE FLOW COMING UP FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO, THAT COULD PRODUCE A LITTLE BIT OF SOME COASTAL FLOODING IN SOME SPOTS. SO GETTING BACK TO THE RADAR, YOU COULD SEE SOME OF THOSE SHOWERS HERE BACK TO THE WEST OF US RIGHT NOW. WE ARE EXPECTING THEM TO CONTINUE TO MOVE TOWARDS THE EAST AS WE PROGRESS THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE MORNING HOURS HERE TODAY, SOME LOCALLY HEAVY DOWNPOURS CAN’T BE COMPLETELY RULED OUT AS THEY MOVE THROUGH. AND THEN BY 5:00 WE’RE PRETTY MUCH IN THE CLEAR. MAYBE A COUPLE LEFTOVER SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE. WE COULD SEE SOME MORE REDEVELOPMENT OF SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS AND SOME THUNDERSTORMS AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW MORNING ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COASTLINE AGAIN, WE MAY SEE THAT PATTERN LAST HERE AS WE HEAD INTO EARLY THURSDAY MORNING. HERE TOO. AS YOU CAN SEE BEFORE BEGINNING TO CLEAR OUT OF HERE AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON. BUT MAYBE SOME SHOWERS HERE FOR PORTIONS OF THE METRO NORTH AND PORTIONS OF THE SOUTH SHORE AS WELL FOR THURSDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE CLEARING OUT AS WE HEAD INTO THURSDAY EVENING. SO YOUR WDSU FIRST MORNING, SEVEN DAY FORECAST. WE’LL CALL FOR SOME OF THOSE RAIN CHANCES TO LINGER THROUGH AT LEAST THURSDAY BEFORE WE BEGIN TO DRY OUT, AND WE WILL ALSO HEAT UP, TOO. WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES NEARING THOSE LOW TO MID 90S. FRIDAY THIS WEEKEND AND ALSO INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK, WHICH COULD ALLOW OUR HEAT INDEX VALUES TO RISE ONCE AGAIN INTO THOSE TRIPLE DIGITS. MAYBE SOME HEAT CONCERNS FOR THE END OF THE WEEK HEADING INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK AS WELL. LOW TEMPERATURES, MAINLY INTO THE 70
