DOTD announces lane closure shifts on CCC
515 NOW A BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT ON THE BRIDGE MOVING INTO ITS SECOND PHASE. THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ANNOUNCING A NEW ROUND OF LANE CLOSURES ON THE CRESCENT CITY CONNECTION. AND AS WDSU’S DEJA BROWN EXPLAINS, THE IMPACTS WILL CONTINUE TO BE SIGNIFICANT FOR THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT CROSS THE BRIDGE EACH DAY. BLOW UP CONTINUES. YES, THE CONTRACT IS MOVING ALONG NICELY. HE’S HE’S MAKING GREAT PROGRESS. BACK IN APRIL, WORK BEGAN ON THE $21 MILLION CRESCENT CITY CONNECTION BRIDGE DECORATIVE LIGHTING PROJECT THAT PROJECT, BRINGING PROGRAMABLE LED LIGHTS SIMILAR TO THE ONES YOU SEE AT THE SUPERDOME. BUT IT’S ALSO BROUGHT SOME HEADACHES. WE’RE VERY MINDFUL OF EVERYBODY’S PATIENCE AND THE CONTRACTORS WORKING HARD TO GET THIS DONE. THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE IT ON DISPLAY BY THE SUPER BOWL HAS CREATED A SENSE OF URGENCY, RIGHT NOW, HALF OF THE 1500 LIGHT FIXTURES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED AND POWERED. WE’RE ON COURSE TO HAVE THIS PROJECT COMPLETED BY IN TIME FOR THE SUPER BOWL IN FEBRUARY OF 2025, AND NOW THE SECOND PHASE OF THE PROJECT IS GETTING UNDERWAY, AND DRIVERS HEADING TO THE EAST BANK MAY HAVE ALREADY NOTICED SOME CHANGES FOR DRIVERS HEADING TO THE CBD. ALL FOUR TRAVEL LANES ARE OPEN, BUT THE HOV HAS BEEN REDUCED TO ONE LANE AND STARTING ON SUNDAY, THAT’S WHEN THE BIG CHANGES ARE HAPPENING. IF YOU’RE HEADING TO THE WEST BANK, TWO RIGHT LANES WILL BE CLOSED, BUT THE TCHOUPITOULAS STREET ON RAMP WILL BE REOPENED AND REMAIN OPEN THROUGH THE SECOND PHASE. BUT BEGINNING SATURDAY NIGHT, THE MAGAZINE STREET ON RAMP WILL BE CLOSED AND REMAIN CLOSED. YOU’LL ALSO SEE TWO LEFT LANE CLOSURES STARTING SATURDAY NIGHT AT NINE, AND THAT GOES UNTIL SUNDAY. THE PROJECT WON’T BE COMPLETED AT THE END OF AUGUST, BUT THE LANE CLOSURES WILL BE AND BY BY BY THAT WILL WE’LL BE BACK TO AT LEAST A NORMAL TRAFFIC PATTERN BY THE TIME SCHOOL STARTS BACK UP IN LATE AUGUST OR EARLY SEPTEMBER. THE INITIAL TEST LIGHTING IN MAY WAS A GREAT SUCCESS, AND LEADERS SAY IT WILL BE AN IMPRESSIVE ADDITION TO THE NEW ORLEANS SKYLINE. THIS IS REALLY GOING TO BE A SHOWPIECE. THE CRESCENT CITY CONNECTION IS AN ICONIC STRUCTURE AND IT SIGNIFIES THE THE NEW ORLEANS RIVERFRONT AND SKYLINE. SO WE’RE VERY EXCITED FOR THE CONCLUSION OF THIS PROJECT. UH, IN ADVANCE OF WHEN THE SUPER BOWL IS GOING TO BE COMING FOR WDSU TRAFFIC ROAD PATROL, I’M DEJA BROWN. YEAH, AND THE SUPER BOWL IS COMING IN FEBRUARY. WE’RE TOLD THAT DOTD SPLIT THE COST WITH THE NEW ORLEANS PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, AND THE CITY WILL OPERATE AND MAINTAIN THE LIGHTING SYSTEM ON THE BRIDGE. ALL RIGHTY. AND YOU CAN FIND MORE INFORMATION ON THE LANE CLOSURES RIGHT NO
