Rep. Julia Letlow is attending the Republican National Convention with Majority Leader Steve Scalise this week. This comes just 48 hours after an assassination attempt on Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. Letlow spoke with WDSU Anchor Travers Mackel before she left for the convention, calling for unity after the incident. "There is no place for this kind of violence at a political event or anywhere for that matter," said Letlow. "It's time as a country for us to unite. Quit with the divisiveness." Letlow said that despite the news that the security plan for the RNC will not be changed, she feels safe attending. "There is a heightened sense of security, but I feel very comfortable traveling to Milwaukee," said Letlow.
