New Orleans Rep. Aimee Adatto Freeman diagnosed with breast cancer
FOUR, FIVE AND SIX, ALL RIGHT, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE OTHER BIG STORY THAT WE’RE FOLLOWING IS IF WE’RE NOT FOLLOWING ENOUGH TODAY, DAMON, A WEATHER IMPACT DAY AND THE REASON WHY IS RIGHT THERE BEHIND YOU. IT IS YOU CAN HARDLY SEE ANYTHING ABSOLUTELY STORMING. YEAH, THAT’S OUR CAMERA AND CHALMETTE. YEAH. AND, YOU KNOW, WE COULD SEE A LITTLE WHILE AGO, ABOUT 30 MINUTES AGO, I WAS CRYSTAL CLEAR. ABSOLUTELY. AND BIG CHANGES NOW. AND WE’VE GOT SOME SHOWERS AND STORMS ALL ACROSS SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA RIGHT NOW. AND THEY’RE SWEEPING ACROSS BOTH THE NORTH SHORE AND THE SOUTH SHORE. YOU CAN SEE THE RAIN COMING DOWN ON THE SUPERDOME RIGHT NOW AS WELL. BUT NOT SO MUCH. SO ON THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST. LET ME TAKE YOU TO OUR RADAR PICTURE AND SHOW YOU THOSE SHOWERS AND STORMS THAT I’M MAKING REFERENCE TO, AND IT STRETCHES ALL THE WAY DOWN INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO. NOW, A LOT OF WHAT’S IN THE GULF IS PROBABLY GOING TO PASS FOR THE MOST PART ALONG THE COASTLINE AS WE GO THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS. BUT SOME OF THAT’S GOING TO MAKE ITS WAY A LITTLE BIT FURTHER INTO THE SOUTH SHORE AS WELL. AND SO AS THIS LINE PASSES THROUGH OUR AREA, I THINK, I THINK WE’RE GOING TO SEE MORE LATER ON THIS AFTERNOON. LOTS OF HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS WASHINGTON PARISH AND PARTS OF SAINT TAMMANY PARISH, PRIMARILY ON THE NORTH SHORE, HEADED TOWARDS YOU AND HANCOCK AND PEARL RIVER COUNTIES. IF YOU’RE WONDERING ABOUT THE LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN CAUSEWAY, HEAVY RAINFALL AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY OVER THAT, THAT AREA, I THINK TRAVIS SAID A LITTLE WHILE AGO THAT IT WAS CLOSED OVER EAST NEW ORLEANS. SOME HEAVY RAINFALL THERE. IT’S MOVING ACROSS UPPER PLAQUEMINES PARISH INTO SAINT BERNARD PARISH AS WELL. AND THEN IT STRETCHES ALL THE WAY DOWN INTO GRAND ISLAND AND ACROSS OTHER PARTS OF PLAQUEMINES PARISH, DOWN TOWARDS THE MOUTH OF THE MISSISSIPPI. SO LOTS OF RAINFALL OUT THERE, AND IT’S BEEN RAINING AT A RATE OF ANYWHERE FROM 2 TO 5IN PER HOUR. NOT SO MUCH SO HERE IN THE CITY, BUT BUT WE’VE DEFINITELY SEEN IT ACROSS PARTS OF THE NORTH SHORE. SO THAT’S GOING TO CONTINUE FOR A WHILE LONGER. AND BESIDES WETTING THE ROADS AND MAKING FOR SOME SLIPPERY AND KIND OF HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ACROSS PARTS OF THE AREA, THE VISIBILITY IS IMPACTED AS WELL. TWO AND A HALF MILES OF VISIBILITY OVER IN SLIDELL. THE VISIBILITY AT THE LAKEFRONT IS AT TWO MILES, THREE MILES OVER IN BELLE CHASE AND FOUR MILES OVER IN HAMMOND. SO YOU GOT SLIPPERY ROADS, YOU GOT HEAVY RAINFALL, YOU GOT LOW VISIBILITY. YOU MAY WANT TO STAY AT HOME AND WAIT FOR THIS TO TO ALL PASS, AND IT SHOULD PASS LATER ON THIS AFTERNOON. HERE’S OUR HIGH RESOLUTION MODEL SHOWING YOU THAT RAINFALL RETURNING TO OUR AREA AS WE GO INTO THE THREE, FOUR AND 5:00 PM TIME FRAME. SOME HEAVY SHOWERS AND STORMS ARE A POSSIBILITY, ESPECIALLY OVER THE CITY, BUT STRETCHING ACROSS BELLE CHASE INTO THE ENGLISH TERN AREA OVER HANCOCK AND PEARL RIVER COUNTIES AS WE GO INTO THE EVENING HOURS. AND THEN I THINK WE GET A BREAK TONIGHT. I THINK WE’RE GOING TO SEE SOME SPOTTY SHOWERS AS WE GO THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS, AND THEN WE’LL WAKE TO SOME COASTAL RAINFALL, KIND OF SIMILAR TO WHAT WE SAW THIS MORNING. AND THEN TOMORROW AFTERNOON I’M EXPECTING MORE SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND STORMS IN THE AREA. I THINK I’VE GOT ABOUT A 70% CHANCE OF RAINFALL IN THE FORECAST FOR YOUR SATURDAY, AND ABOUT A 70 TO 80% CHANCE FOR SUNDAY. SO TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, WE’RE ALL UNDER A MARGINAL RISK OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL THAT COULD LEAD TO SOME MEASURE OF FLASH FLOODING IN PARTS OF OUR AREA. SOME OF THAT SAME FLOODING THAT WE SAW YESTERDAY. IT’S PROBABLY GOING TO BE BACK IN SOME OF THOSE AREAS AS WE GO THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND UNFORTUNATELY INTO NEXT WEEK AS WELL. RIGHT NOW, TEMPERATURES, THE BIGGEST NUMBER IS UP IN BOGALUSA AT 86 DEGREES, BUT OTHERWISE 75. IN SLIDELL 72 OVER IN HAMMOND, BELLE CHASSE NAVAL AIR STATION IS REPORTING 78 DEGREES WHILE DOWN IN GALLIANO AND GRAND ISLE, THE TEMPERATURE IN BOTH THOSE LOCATIONS IS 77. SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT THE RAINFALL AND THE CLOUD COVER DOES FOR OUR TEMPERATURES IN THE AFTERNOON. FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES ARE ONLY IN THE KIND OF MID TO UPPER 80S AND SOME LOW 90S OUT THERE AS WELL. AND OVERALL, THIS AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES RISING INTO THE MID TO UPPER 80S AND LOW 90S. WATCH OUT FOR THAT FLASH FLOODING RISK. HERE’S A QUICK LOOK AT YOUR WDSU FIRST WARNING. SEVEN DAY FORECAST. NOT MUCH OF A BREAK AT ALL TO THE RAINFALL AND THE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY THAT WE’RE EXPECTING THROUG
