Former Louisiana congressman Cedric Richmond confirms consideration as possible Vice President pick for Kamala Harris
A former Louisiana congressman could be tapped as a vice presidential candidate pick for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Cedric Richmond, who has worked on Joe Biden's campaign for years, could be considered as Harris' running mate.
WDSU reached out to Richmond, who declined an interview, but did say he was caught off guard by the consideration. Richmond said he was flattered at the possibility and is willing to help in any way possible to get Harris elected.
Richmond resigned from his position with the 2nd Congressional District in 2020 to join President Joe Biden's administration.
Richmond also chaired Biden's national campaign.
He is a New Orleans native and Benjamin Franklin High School graduate.
He attended Morehouse College and graduated from Tulane Law School in 1998.
Richmond was in the state legislature for a decade until he was elected to Congress in 2010.
He resigned in 2021 to take his role as senior advisor and director of the office of public engagement at the White House until 2022.
