Louisiana new laws take effect today. Here is what you need to know
Starting Thursday new laws signed by Gov. Jeff Landry are taking effect. One of those laws that goes into effect makes it illegal to knowingly approach an arresting police officer. Another law is banning the sale of THC products at gas stations. The first law stipulates that individuals who intentionally approach an officer engaged in their duties, after being ordered to stop or retreat, could face a $500 fine, 60 days in jail, or both. The second law restricts the sale of THC products to stores carrying hemp and medical marijuana, excluding gas stations.
