Tropical Depression #4 came together Friday night, and now the tropical forecast calls for the system to become Tropical Storm Debby as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico.
The system is just south of Cuba right now moving west-northwest at 15 mph with maximum sustained winds in some of the strongest storms at 35 mph, and a minimum pressure of 1009 mb
It's forecast to become a tropical storm on Saturday and could flirt with being a low end hurricane before making landfall around the Big Bend of Florida Monday morning.
Storm tracks are in good agreement on the system entering the Gulf of Mexico, heading north while staying just off the west coast of Florida, and then turning northeast through North Florida and out into the Atlantic just off the southeast coast of the U.S.
ALERTS:
A Hurricane watch and storm surge watch is in effect for the Florida coast west of the Aucilla River to Indian Pass.
A storm surge warning is in effect for the coast of Florida from Aripeka to the mouth of the Aucilla River.
A Hurricane watch is in effect for Indian Pass to Yankeetown.
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for The Dry Tortugas west coast of Florida peninsula from south of Yankeetown to East Cape Sable.
A Tropical Storm watch is in effect for the Florida Keys south of channel 5 bridge.
SEVERE WEATHER:
A small risk of tornadoes is also forecast for a portion of the Southwstern Florida Peninsula. A level 1 out of 5, marginal risk, has already been issued for Saturday.
FORECAST RAINFALL:
The entire Florida Peninsula is forecast to get a LOT of rain! The Weather Prediction Center has the region under levels 1 and 2 out of 4, marginal and slight risks for flooding on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
They're also calling for some spots to get up to or over 10" of rain.
