Tulane's Innovation institute wants to invest in women owned businesses
The Tulane Innovation Institute and Tulane Ventures will host a screening of Show Her The Money on August 7th at 6 p.m. at the Woldenberg Art Center + Freeman Auditorium on Tulane’s uptown campus. The event is open to the public with a $10 donation to Dress for Success.
The documentary reveals that women founders receive less than 2% of venture capital funding in the U.S. and Europe.
Before the screening, Tulane Ventures will announce its first investment in a local female-led company.
Tulane Ventures is a new $10 million seed fund focused on supporting underrepresented, early-stage ventures in Louisiana, including those led by female founders.
The fund will invest between $50,000 and $250,000 in select companies, focusing on health/medical, climate/energy and Artificial intelligence/technology sectors.
The Tulane Ventures Seed Fund aims to eliminate barriers to capital for underrepresented entrepreneurs and provides financial support, mentorship and resources to help female founders advance their innovative idea.
