BIG WEEKEND IN THE FRENCH QUARTER. AND PART OF THOSE PREPARATIONS, THE HEAT. WDSU REPORTER ARIELLE BRUMFIELD LIVE IN THE QUARTER AS ORGANIZERS GET READY FOR RED DRESS RUN AND DIRTY LINEN NIGHT. QUITE THE PARTY, ARIELLE. THAT’S RIGHT. I FEEL LIKE PREGAMING HAS ALREADY BEGUN, BUT THE KEY IS TO PACE YOURSELF. UM, RED DRESS RUN. IT STARTS TOMORROW NIGHT OR TOMORROW MORNING. EXCUSE ME. AT 9 A.M. HERE IN THE QUARTER. AND DOCTORS SAY YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO DIRTY LINEN NIGHT IF YOU ARE ALREADY TOO DEHYDRATED TO ENJOY IT. OH, WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN. OH, WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN. LORD, I WANT TO BE IN THAT NUMBER. OH, THE SAINTS WILL BE MARCHING IN. ACTUALLY RUNNING ALL AROUND THE FRENCH QUARTER FOR RED DRESS RUN SATURDAY MORNING. YOU GET THE CHANCE TO HEAR A LITTLE LOUIS ARMSTRONG TO BILLIE HOLIDAY. AND THAT’S WHERE YOU’LL CATCH ALICIA RENE, AKA BLUE EYES, SINGING RENDITIONS OF ALL THE GREATS. AS A FRENCH QUARTER SINGER, SHE’S NO STRANGER TO THE HEAT. WHILE SHE USES HER SMOOTH VOCALS TO WARM YOUR SOUL, SHE ALSO MAKES SURE YOU AREN’T WARMED UP TOO MUCH TO THE POINT OF DEHYDRATION. I TRY AND ACTUALLY TELL PEOPLE, EVEN WHEN THEY’RE IN PASSING, LIKE, DON’T FORGET TO STAY HYDRATED, BECAUSE AS I’M SURE MANY OF US SEE PEOPLE WHEN THEY AS SOON AS THEY ARRIVE, THE FIRST THING THEY WANT TO DO IS GO TO BOURBON STREET AND GET A COCKTAIL. PACE YOURSELF AS FAR AS DRINKING, SO MAYBE START WITH THE MIMOSA FIRST AND THEN EASE ONTO INTO, UH, MORE OF YOUR HARDER, UH, ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. DOCTOR COURTNEY WASHINGTON SAYS PAY ATTENTION TO DIZZINESS, VOMITING, AND NAUSEA. ALL SIGNS OF DEHYDRATION THAT ARE OFTEN CONFUSED FOR THE NATURAL SIDE EFFECTS OF DRINKING ALCOHOL AND BUSINESSES ON BOURBON, EVEN STEPPING UP THEIR PREPS. WE TRY TO PUT UP AS MANY AS UMBRELLAS WE CAN PUT UP THAT WATER PROBLEM YESTERDAY SO WE HAD A WATER ICE YESTERDAY AND WE GOT WE ICED UP EVERYTHING NOW. THEY SAID THE WATER IS OKAY. SO WE PREPPING ALL OF THAT. LAFITTE BLACKSMITH BAR ON BOURBON SAYS AFTER A WEEK OF DEALING WITH THE BOIL WATER ADVISORY, STOCKING UP ON ICE AND CLEANING WATER BINS, THEY ARE READY. WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN. YEAH. AND BEFORE YOU START DRINKING TOMORROW, YOU YOU ARE ADVISED TO EAT AND MAKE SURE YOU KEEP SOME WATER ON YOU. NOW, IF YOU PLAN ON COMING OUT TO DIRTY LINEN NIGHT, IT STARTS AT 6:00 AND IT WILL BE BETWEEN 300 AND 1100 BLOCKS OF ROYAL STREET. RE
