VETERANS LIKE HIM. WE PUT TOGETHER A LITTLE FUNDRAISER AND WE CAME UP WITH SOME MONEY FOR YOU. OH MY GOSH, I’M SO OVERWHELMED. I REALLY DON’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. 90 YEAR OLD DONALD DOESN’T QUITE HAVE THE WORDS YET. SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAS JUST NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE. THINGS HAVE BEEN HARD LATELY FOR DONALD. HE’S A VIETNAM WAR VET AND HE’LL BE 91 IN JUST A COUPLE OF WEEKS. HIS WIFE, HIS ONLY FAMILY LEFT RECENTLY, GOT SICK, SO HE’S BEEN TAKING CARE OF HER. WHEN YOU GET MARRIED, YOU SAY FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE, RICHER OR POORER AND SO ON. AND SO, YOU KNOW, THIS IS WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR. I HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO HER, AND I LOVE HER DEARLY. BUT WHEN HIS RENT WENT UP, MONEY GOT TIGHT. THAT’S WHEN THE TEAM AT US GOLD AND PAWNSHOP IN MANCHESTER STEPPED IN. I COULD NEVER THANK YOU KNOW, YOU DON’T HAVE TO. AFTER DONALD STOPPED BY THE STORE TO MAKE SOME EXTRA MONEY, JANELLE, WHO HELPS OUT THERE, DECIDED TO RAISE ABOUT $1,300 ON GOFUNDME. AND WHEN SHE POSTED IT ON TIKTOK, IT WENT VIRAL, PULLING IN MORE THAN 8 MILLION VIEWS AND MORE THAN $250,000 IN DONATIONS. THERE’S SOMEONE FROM BUDAPEST, THERE’S SOMEONE FROM AUSTRALIA, SOMEONE FROM IRELAND, ENGLAND. UM, BANGLADESH. DONALD SAYS. HE’S BEEN OVERWHELMED BY THE LOVE SHOWN TO HIM AND HIS WIFE. HE’S THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME. BESIDES THIS, OF COURSE, THIS IS THE SECOND BEST. AND DONALD SAYS HE DOESN’T WANT THIS TO END WITH HIM. HE HOPES THAT BY SHARING HIS STORY, IT WILL INSPIRE OTHER PEOPLE TO HELP VETERANS WHO ARE STRUGGLING TOO. GOD BLESS ALL OF THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE RARE, EXCEPTIONAL PEOPLE WILLING TO STEP OUT AND HELP SOMEBODY ELSE. I THINK THAT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL THING IN THE WORLD. I THINK YOU’RE THE PRIME EXAMPLE OF THAT. AS YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR WIFE, THOUGH, I THINK YOU I THINK YOU’RE THE THE PRIME EXAMPLE OF THAT. EXCUSE ME. THAT’S OKAY. I’M SORRY.

"She's the best thing that ever happened to me besides this, of course, this is the second best!"Donald said that he hopes that his story, will help inspire other people to help other veterans, who are also in difficult situations."I think it restores my faith in humanity," he said. "I'm hoping that this will inspire people out there to maybe do something similar to help all of the rest of the unfortunate veterans that are out there because they desperately need help. They really do."Donald and the team at the pawn shop added that they would like to thank everyone who has generously donated to the fundraiser to help."God bless all of them because they are rare, exceptional people willing to step out and help somebody else.
