More of the same weather again into this week
SIR IS A VERY HOT ONE ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA. YET AGAIN. SO WE’RE GOING TO END THE WEEKEND STAYING THE SAME AS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN FOR THE LAST ABOUT TWO WEEKS NOW, AND WE GOT MORE OF THAT HERE IN STORE AS WE HEAD INTO THE NEW WORK WEEK AHEAD. CURRENT LIVE. LOOK AT YOUR TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW AND YOU CAN SEE MID 90S JUST REALLY ACROSS THE BOARD. WE GOT 93 AT LAKEFRONT, 96 CURRENTLY IN KENNER AND A HIGH OF A TEMPERATURE READING RIGHT NOW OF 95 UP ON THE NORTH SHORE IN BOTH HAMMOND AND UP TOWARDS BOGALUSA. FINAL NUMBERS TODAY FOR NEW ORLEANS. YOU HIT A HIGH OF 95 TODAY, PUTTING US A FEW DEGREES ABOVE THE AVERAGE HIGH OF 92. SECOND STRAIGHT DAY IN A ROW. AT LEAST WE’VE SEEN 95 HERE. 101 WAS THE OLD RECORD SET BACK JUST LAST YEAR, AND LUCKILY NOWHERE NEAR THAT RECORD HIGH TODAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA IN GENERAL, MID 90S HERE. 96 IS WHAT THE HIGH WAS TODAY FOR YOU UP IN SLIDELL. IT’S STILL FEELS LIKE HOWEVER TRIPLE DIGITS WHEN YOU FACTOR IN RELATIVE HUMIDITY MAKING IT FEEL LIKE 103 IN BOTH KENNER CURRENTLY AND ALSO DOWN TOWARDS THE BELLE CHASE AREA. FORECAST FOR TONIGHT A MOSTLY CLEAR ONE. TEMPERATURES PRETTY AVERAGE FOR THE TIME OF THE YEAR. 75 NORTH SHORE 79. SOUTH SHORE WITH A LIGHT WIND FROM THE NORTHWEST AT 5 TO 10. AND I GOT HIGH TEMPERATURES AGAIN INTO THOSE MID TO EVEN UPPER 90S HERE AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW OF THIS UPCOMING WORKWEEK, WE’RE LOOKING AT HIGHS NEARING UPPER 90S, EVEN LOWER ONE HUNDREDTHS FOR PARTS OF THE NORTH SHORE FOR TOMORROW AFTERNOON, WITH FEEL-LIKE TEMPERATURES ANYWHERE BETWEEN AROUND 102 TO AS HIGH AS 105. HERE AGAIN, WE’RE LOOKING AT THE SAME TYPE OF READINGS, POTENTIALLY VERY CLOSE TO HEAT ADVISORY CRITERIA LEVELS HEADING INTO TUESDAY AFTERNOON. HERE AGAIN. AND THE REASON BEING IS BECAUSE WE’RE STILL WATCHING THIS UPPER LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM POSITIONED TO THE WEST OF US, WHICH IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO JUST BUILD ACROSS THE REGION HERE IN GENERAL. WE’LL STILL BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE SYSTEM, EVEN THOUGH IT WILL BE POSITIONED TO OUR WEST HERE BY THE WEEKEND. AND UNFORTUNATELY, YOU KNOW, THIS SYSTEM HERE, IT’S A TROUGH. IT HAS A COLD FRONT WITH IT THAT FRONT NOT EXPECTED TO MAKE IT DOWN TOWARDS OUR SOUTH. SO WE’RE STILL GOING TO BE LOOKING AT PRETTY HOT CONDITIONS EVEN AS WE HEAD TOWARDS ABOUT A WEEK FROM NOW. MEANWHILE, IN THE TROPICS, WE’RE STILL KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON THIS TROPICAL WAVE. IT HAS A 90% CHANCE OF BECOMING A TROPICAL STORM OR STRONGER HERE OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. NOT FULLY CLASSIFIED JUST YET. THERE’S A REASON FOR THAT. BUT RIGHT NOW YOU CAN SEE SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT ARE TRYING TO ORGANIZE AS IT CONTINUES TO MAKE ITS WAY TOWARDS THE WEST, GETTING PRETTY CLOSE NOW TO THE LESSER ANTILLES ISLANDS, WHICH, BY THE WAY, TROPICAL STORM WATCHES HAVE NOW BEEN ISSUED FOR PORTIONS OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS. AND THIS MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED HERE WITHIN THE NEXT 48 HOURS. AND THAT IS WHY THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO A POTENTIAL TROPICAL CYCLONE, BECAUSE IT DOES POSE AS BECAUSE IT POSES THE THREAT OF BRINGING TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS TO THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS WITHIN 48 HOURS, EVEN THOUGH IT HASN’T OFFICIALLY DEVELOPED JUST YET. BUT HERE’S THE LATEST NUMBERS. MOVING WEST NORTHWEST AT 21, IT’S GOT WINDS OF 30 BEING STEERED BY HIGH PRESSURE. AND YOU’LL SEE HERE IT DOES BECOME A TROPICAL STORM. AS WE HEAD INTO MONDAY. AND THEN AFTER THAT MOVING TOWARDS THE NORTHERN LESSER ANTILLES ISLANDS HERE AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THE EARLY PART OF NEXT WEEK AND THEN AFTER THAT, BY AROUND WEDNESDAY, FOLLOWING UP TOWARDS FRIDAY, IT’S GOING TO FEEL A DIP HERE IN THE JET STREAM, ALONG WITH HIGH PRESSURE MOVING OFF TOWARDS THE EAST. THAT SHOULD ALLOW THE SYSTEM TO TURN MORE NORTHERLY WHILE STRENGTHENING, AND IT COULD BE A PROBLEM HERE FOR OUR NEIGHBORS UP TOWARDS THE EAST AND BERMUDA. SO WE’LL KEEP OUR EYES ON IT FOR THEM. BUT LUCKILY FOR US, WE SHOULD BE HAVING TO BOTHER WITH THIS SYSTEM TOO MUCH. BUT YOUR WDSU FIRST WARNING SEVEN DAY FORECAST HIGHS INTO THOSE MID TO UPPER 90S. MAYBE SOME CHANCES OF RAIN AND STORMS HERE AND THERE GOT SOME WEATHER IMPACT DAYS COMING UP. IT LOOKS LIKE WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY WIT
