US approves $20 billion arms sale to Israel amid threat of Middle East regional war

The Biden administration has approved a $20 billion weapons sale to Israel, including fighter jets and advanced air missiles, with deliveries expected to start in 2026.

The Biden administration approved this funding as it carefully tries to balance its support for Israel with the growing number of calls to curb military support for the number of civilian deaths happening in Gaza. The state department announced that $20 billion in arms sales will head to Israel including fighter jets and advanced air missiles. Congress was notified of the sale which also includes tank ammunition, mortars and tactical vehicles but they aren't expected to get to Israel anytime soon. Contracts for these weapons take years and it is meant to help Israel in the long term. The Biden administration is still very adamant on getting Israel and Hamas back to the negotiating table tomorrow. That is likely to go unanswered in Washington. I'm Amy Lou.
