THE EXPERTS. ALL RIGHT, NOW WE’RE GOING TO LEAVE THIS TO THE EXPERT. OUR FIRST WARNING WEATHER FORECAST, AS WE ARE DEALING WITH ANOTHER IMPACT DAY, ANOTHER SCORCHER OUTSIDE DAMON SINGLETON. AND WE’RE ALSO TRACKING ERNESTO, OUR LATEST HURRICANE. YEAH, ERNESTO COULD POSSIBLY BECOME A MAJOR HURRICANE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. SO WE’VE GOT OUR EYES ON THAT, AND WE’VE BEEN TRACKING IT PRETTY CLOSELY FOR THE LAST SEVERAL DAYS AS WELL. SO PRETTY MUCH WHAT WE EXPECTED TO HAPPEN HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS SYSTEM. THE HURRICANE HUNTERS WENT OUT TO INVESTIGATE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE WINDS WERE BLOWING AT ABOUT 75MPH. YOU KNOW, WHEN THEY GO OUT, THEY CHECK FOR THE ACTUAL LOCATION OF THE CENTER OF CIRCULATION, THE PRESSURE, THE WINDS, AND OF COURSE, THOSE WIND SPEEDS AND THE ACTUAL LOCATION. A COUPLE OF CRITICAL THINGS THAT THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER USES TO MAKE ITS TRACK, BUT HERE’S A LOOK AT THAT SYSTEM A LITTLE BIT UP CLOSE. AND IT IS ONCE AGAIN A CATEGORY ONE HURRICANE MOVING IN A NORTHWESTERLY DIRECTION AWAY FROM PUERTO RICO. IT’S ABOUT A 175 MILES OR SO TO THE NORTHWEST OF SAN JUAN ON THAT NORTHWESTERLY COURSE. AND AS YOU CAN SEE, IT’S NOT A VERY WELL OR VERY TIGHT SYSTEM RIGHT NOW. BUT THAT COULD CHANGE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. AND BESIDES ERNESTO, WE ALSO HAVE ANOTHER TROPICAL WAVE. AND JUST OFF THE WEST COAST OF AFRICA. SOMETHING ELSE IS TRYING TO BUBBLE UP THERE, BUT THERE ARE NO OTHER TROPICAL SYSTEMS ACROSS THE ATLANTIC BASIN RIGHT NOW. ERNESTO IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO MOVE OUT OVER SOME VERY WARM WATER OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, AND THAT’S GOING TO HELP IT BECOME SOMETHING GREATER THAN IT IS. A LITTLE BIT OF DRY AIR, BUT NOT ANYTHING REAL SIGNIFICANT RIGHT NOW. AND THE MODELS ARE IN AGREEMENT THAT THIS THING IS GOING TO CONTINUE NORTHWEST BEFORE IT TURNS TO THE NORTHEAST ALMOST DIRECTLY TOWARDS BERMUDA. IN FACT, HERE’S THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER FORECAST TRACK. THIS THING IS MOVING NORTHWEST AT 16MPH, WITH 75MPH WINDS, 75 MILE PER HOUR WINDS, POSSIBLY BECOMING A CATEGORY THREE MAJOR HURRICANE LATE THURSDAY OR FRIDAY MORNING BEFORE IT MAKES ITS WAY OVER BERMUDA. IT IS NOT AN ISSUE FOR US HERE IN SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA AT ALL. IN FACT, NOT MUCH OF AN ISSUE FOR THE UNITED STATES, BUT BERMUDA IS IN THE CROSSHAIRS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS MODEL, ON A SATURDAY MORNING. AND SOMETHING ELSE I WANT YOU TO NOTICE ACROSS THE ATLANTIC BASIN WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL, IS THAT THERE’S NOTHING ELSE REALLY DEVELOPING IN THE CARIBBEAN IN THE GULF OF MEXICO, IN OR IN THE ATLANTIC IN THAT TIME FRAME FROM NOW THROUGH SUNDAY. LOCALLY, OUR BIG ISSUE ONCE AGAIN TODAY IS THE HEAT ADVISORY. IT IS BACK WITH US, IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 P.M. TONIGHT ISSUED BECAUSE HEAT INDEX VALUES IN SOME PARTS OF OUR AREA COULD RISE TO 113 DEGREES. THIS AFTERNOON. THE AIR QUALITY ALERT IS BACK ONCE AGAIN AS WELL. FOR THOSE SAME AREAS THAT WERE UNDER THAT AIR QUALITY ALERT YESTERDAY ISSUED BECAUSE OZONE TODAY IS AT THE ORANGE LEVEL, ESPECIALLY IN THOSE AREAS. AND NOT DURING THE WHOLE DAY, BUT YOU KNOW, AT TIMES IT WILL RISE TO THE ORANGE LEVEL. SO IF YOU’RE IN ONE OF THOSE UNHEALTHY GROUPS, YOU REALLY NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO HOW LONG YOU’RE EXERTING YOURSELF OUTDOORS. THE UV INDEX IS AT THE UPPER END OF VERY HIGH, SO YOU GOT TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN AND GET READY FOR SOME MAJOR HEAT. IT ALREADY FEELS LIKE 111 DEGREES OVER IN SLIDELL, RIGHT NOW, 108 IS THE FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURE OVER THE LAKEFRONT. AND THERE’S NOT MUCH IN TERMS OF RAINFALL AROUND RIGHT NOW. AND ONLY A SMALL 20 TO 30% CHANCE IN EFFECT TODAY. RIGHT NOW WE’RE ALL IN THE LOW TO MID 90S. THIS AFTERNOON I’M EXPECTING MID TO UPPER 90S AND FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS NOT MUCH OF A BREAK IN THE TEMPERATURES. THE RAIN CHANCES ARE GOING UP, BUT THE TIMING IS THE ISSUE. THE TEMPERATURES USUALLY RISE TO THE MID TO UPPER 90S BEFORE THE RAIN ACTUALLY SHOWS UP, BUT HERE’S A LOOK AT YO
