CASE, BUT THAT IS THE CASE. SO CAME IN THIS MORNING JUST THINKING. OKAY, TODAY IS AN IMPACT DAY. BUT THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING FOR ALL OF US. SO NOW WE HAVE BEEN UPGRADED TO AN ALERT DAY. SO YES, LIKE YOU HEARD DARRYL SAY, FILLING UP TO 118 DEGREES TODAY, THAT DOESN’T MEAN ALL OF US ARE GOING TO FEEL LIKE THAT. BUT THERE IS THE CHANCE THAT YES, WE COULD. THAT’S JUST HOW HOT IT’S EXPECTED TO BE TODAY. YOUR TEMPERATURES AS YOU’RE HEADING OUT THE DOOR RIGHT NOW, WE’RE INTO THE 70S. LOOK AT THE NORTH SHORE. COMPARED TO THE SOUTH SHORE, WE DO HAVE SOME MID 70S GOING ON. AND THEN ONCE YOU GET ACROSS THE LAKE, LOOKING AT THE UPPER 70S AND SOME LOWER 80S, FOR US LAKEFRONT OF COURSE, ALWAYS A LITTLE BIT ON THE WARMER SIDE. 86 DEGREES NOW STEPPING OUTSIDE TODAY I WILL SAY IT FELT A LITTLE MUGGY. LOOK AT YOUR DEW POINTS INTO THE UPPER 70S. SO THAT’S GOING TO BE MISERABLE FOR YOU. SO WE KNOW THAT ALREADY. BUT HERE’S THE THING. YOUR HEAT INDEX ALREADY. THIS MORNING. NOT TERRIBLE ON THE NORTH SHORE. SO YOUR DEW POINTS A LITTLE BIT LOWER RIGHT NOW. BUT THEN LOOK AT LAKEFRONT 99 KENNER 88 DEGREES. SO ALREADY FEELING LIKE THE 90S AND EVEN CLOSE TO 100 IN SOME PARTS. AND THEN HERE’S YOUR FUTURE HEAT INDEX AS WE’RE HEADING THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE DAY. GOT SOME UPPER 90S. THIS IS ALREADY BY 9 A.M. AND THEN ONCE WE GET TO THE AFTERNOON, THAT’S WHEN THE NUMBERS WILL CONTINUE TO GO UP. BUT HERE’S THE TRICKY PART THOUGH. WE’RE EXPECTING TO GET SOME RAIN NOW. ANY RAIN THAT WE DO GET THAT COULD TEMPORARILY COOL OFF SOME OF THE TEMPERATURES. SO YOUR TOWN COULD HAVE SOME RELIEF FROM THE HEAT. MAYBE MOMENTARILY, BUT THEN IT RETURNS RIGHT BACK TO US. YOUR HIGHS FOR TODAY GOING TO BE A LITTLE BIT LOWER THAN YESTERDAY, BUT HONESTLY, IT’S STILL GOING TO BE HOT. THAT DEW POINT IS HIGHER. EXPECT THE MID AND 90S FOR EVERYBODY. UPPER 90S AS WELL. BOGALUSA YOU GUYS GOT TO 100 YESTERDAY. SO LET’S TALK ABOUT THE RAIN. WE’LL SEE SOME COASTAL SHOWERS AS WE GET INTO THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. SO MOST OF US ARE FINE, BUT THAT’S A HEADS UP IF YOU ARE HEADING OUT ON THE WATER FOR TODAY. COULD RUN INTO SOME THUNDERSTORMS AND THEN WE GET TO 3 P.M. WE START TO SEE THESE POP UPS KIND OF HAPPENING. SAME DEAL AS YESTERDAY. SO SOME FOLKS DIDN’T GET ANY RAIN AT ALL. HERE’S 4 P.M. STILL SEEING THOSE HAPPEN AND WITH THESE, SOME OF THESE COULD BE ON THE HEAVIER SIDE. AND EVEN HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO POSSIBLY BE SEVERE. WE DID SEE THAT YESTERDAY. HERE’S 6 P.M. MORE OF THAT. THIS WILL BE HEAVY FOR YOU. REALLY WIDESPREAD TO WE’LL SAY LIKE AROUND THIBODAUX AND HOUMA. YOU GUYS WILL DEFINITELY SEE THAT HEAVY RAIN THAT CONTINUES ON. THIS IS 8 P.M. SO TODAY’S RAIN LOOKS LIKE IT’S GOING TO LINGER A LITTLE BIT LONGER THAN WHAT WE HAVE BEEN SEEING OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS, AND GIVING YOU A QUICK UPDATE ON WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH HURRICANE ERNESTO. STILL A CATEGORY ONE EXPECTED TO BECOME A CATEGORY TWO. AS WE GET INTO THE AFTERNOON. SO POSSIBLY SOMETIME THIS AFTERNOON OR EVENING. CATEGORY TWO AND THEN IT CONTINUES ON UP AS A CATEGORY THREE. AND I DID CIRCLE BERMUDA RIGHT THERE. KIND OF CAN’T SEE IT ANYMORE. BUT IT IS EXPECTED TO GO RIGHT OVER BERMUDA. SO THAT WILL BE A BIG STORY FOR US TO WATCH INDEED. ALL RIGHT. SO HERE’S THE REST OF YOUR WDSU. FIRST WARNING SEVEN-DAY FORECAST RAIN ICONS EVERYWHERE. BUT TODAY MOST CHANCES FOR RAIN TOMORROW NOT TERRIBLE.

Gusty winds are expected with any storm that passes. These will be scattered across the region. Any rain that occurs will temporarily cool off temperatures, but that cool off won't last long. Look for more heat in the forecast as temperatures stay in the mid to upper 90s. We're typically in the lower 90s this time of the year. More chances for rain continue into the next couple of days but will decrease heading into next week.
