THERE WAS PART OF THAT PROCESSION, SUE THAT WERE PUTTING WATER INTO THE AIR, BUT BOY WAS IT QUITE AN AFTERNOON EVENING. TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED. WDSU FIRST WARNING WEATHER DOPPLER RADAR. THESE STORMS MOVED IN FROM MISSISSIPPI WITH A RAW, SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNINGS FOR THE NORTH SHORE. BUT MOST OF THE WORST OF THE STORMS WENT RIGHT ON THROUGH. KIND OF CAUSEWAY WEST. SO RIVER PARISHES TAKING IT ON THE CHIN TANGIPAHOA PARISH TO HAMMOND. LOTS OF LIGHTNING AND THEN THIBODAUX TO HOUMA AND THEN SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES FOR YOU. HOW MUCH RAIN DID WE GET? NORTH SHORE SOME CASES OVER TWO INCHES, BUT MOST OF THE RAIN. LOOK AT A BULL’S EYE ESTIMATED TO 4.5IN OF RAIN. THIS IS LIVE WDSU FIRST WARNING WEATHER DOPPLER RADAR THIBODAUX TO SCHRIEVER TO HOUMA. THE LAST OF SOME SPRINKLES. THE BAYOU CANE BAYOU BUFF A LITTLE RAIN TO EVEN OUR RIVER PARISHES HOPE LAPLACE TO EVEN SOME AREAS THAT JUST SURROUND INDEPENDENCE. TICKFAW HAMMOND, A TANGIPAHOA AND TANGIPAHOA PARISH. THAT IS ALL WE DID FOR THE RAIN. AND IT’S ALL LONG GONE. BUT THE ACTUAL COLLECTION OF RAIN JUST UNDER TWO INCHES JUST EAST OF PONCHATOULA, A FEW MILES JUST NORTH OF COVINGTON, A FEW MILES, JUST ABOUT ONE AND THREE QUARTERS, AND JUST ABOUT AN INCH AND THIBODAUX IN GRAMERCY HERE TODAY. TOP TEMPERATURES BEFORE THE STORMS CAME. WE DID RECOVER TO SOME MID 90S, 97 HAMMOND, BOGALUSA AND OUR STATE’S CAPITAL ALMOST DID 100 YET AGAIN TODAY. TEMPERATURES HAVE CALMED DOWN, HAVE COOLED DOWN ONE OF THE MORE COMFORTABLE NIGHTS WE’VE HAD IN A WHILE. TAKE A LOOK AT THE RAIN CHANCE TREND WE GOT 60% CHANCE TOMORROW, BUT WE HAVE THEM EVENING STORMS SATURDAY. SUNDAY. THE THING IS, WE’VE GOT A FRONT COMING, LIKELY A STORM CHANCES CONTINUE. WE MAY GET A LITTLE IN JUST I REALLY REITERATE HERE A LITTLE SLIGHTLY DRIER AND COOLER AIR. BUT THAT COULD BREAK THIS HEAT WAVE. SPEAKING OF THE HEAT WAVE, THE CORE OF IT STILL RIGHT ON TOP TO US. BUT THERE’S THE SYSTEM NORTH. THIS WILL TAKE A FEW DAYS TO ROLL DOWN THAT HEAT AND START TO KIND OF BREAK IT AWAY, BUT THAT’S THE ONE THAT SHOULD GIVE US THAT LITTLE BIT OF RELIEF. IT’S GOING TO TAKE A COUPLE OF DAYS. STARTING OFF WARM, MUGGY, STEAMY. TOMORROW MORNING I WANT FOR THE KIDS GOING TO SCHOOL FOR THEM TO BE CAREFUL. THE AFTERNOON STORM POTENTIAL, BUT IT’S THE HEAT ADVISORY IS THE BIG DEAL. OF COURSE, EVEN FOR YOU, JUST GETTING OUT TO WORK OR WHEREVER YOU NEED TO BE. STORM POTENTIAL TOMORROW IT’S GOING TO START WITH POSSIBLE STORMS OFFSHORE, MOVING ONSHORE YET AGAIN. AND I’VE GOT LIKELY STORMS ABOUT A 60% CHANCE OF THAT COMING ON THROUGH INTO THE EVENING HOURS, HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY AND THEN STARTING TO FADE TEMPERATURES TO MID 90S. YOU MIGHT THINK, WELL, THERE’S A BREAK. WE’RE LOOKING FOR RIGHT. WELL FACTOR IN HIGH HUMIDITY. STILL SOME DEW POINTS THAT COULD BE NEAR 80 AND IT STILL FEELS LIKE IT’S 110 111 112 IMPACT A HEAT ADVISORY IS ALREADY IN EFFECT FOR TOMORROW TOO, BUT LOOK WHAT’S SET TO COME ON SATURDAY. SATURDAY LOOKS TO ME LIKE FEWER STORMS GOING TO CALL IT ABOUT A 30% CHANCE OF STORMS. BUT LOOK TO SATURDAY NIGHT RIGHT HERE. THAT’S MY FIRST CHANCE OF THOSE EVENING STORMS. I SHOWED YOU THAT RAIN CHANCE TREND. TEMPERATURES SIMILAR TO WHAT I GOT TOMORROW, BUT THE HUMIDITY IS DOWN JUST A TICK, SO WE MAY BE JUST UNDER A HEAT ADVISORY CRITERIA, WHICH IS 108. SO WE’LL SEE IF THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOESN’T PUT US IN IT. WE’VE TAKEN BACK THAT IMPACT DAY. BUT HERE’S THE FRONT THAT EASES IN SATURDAY NIGHT. AND THEN SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY. THAT COULD BE OUR LIKELIEST WIDESPREAD ROUND OF STORMS. AND THAT’S THE ONE THAT COULD DROP IT A LITTLE SLIGHTLY COOLER. IT’S MORE DRIER AIR FOR US, BUT EVEN DEW POINTS INTO THE UPPER 60S, WE WILL DEFINITELY TAKE COMPARATIVELY TO WHAT WE’VE HAD. QUICK LOOK AT ERNESTO. IT IS ACTUALLY A CATEGORY TWO HURRICANE, RIGHT NOW. BERMUDA HURRICANE WARNINGS, OUTER BANDS ALREADY LASHING IT. YOU CAN SEE IT’S SET TO HIT THE ISLAND NATION AND A CATEGORY TWO, NOT A MAJOR HURRICANE ANYMORE, BUT STILL COULD DO A LOT OF DAMAGE. THEN IT’S GOING TO BE POSSIBLY LASHING NEWFOUNDLAND AND THAT’S CANADA. BUT AS WE LOOK IN THE BIGGER PICTURE, THERE IS NOTHING MORE IN THE ATLANTIC. AND EVEN THE CARIBBEAN OR INTO THE GULF OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. BESIDES, WHAT’S OUT THERE NOW, WE’RE GETTING THROUGH THE HEAT, TRYING TO BREAK IT, AND WE WILL DO IT WITH THAT CLUSTER OF STORMS. SUNDAY NIGHT. WATCH OUT FOR THE HEAT ADVISORY TOMORROW. WE’RE HOPING THOS

More heat, more storms, and tracking Hurricane Ernesto in your New Orleans weather forecast. It's another warm and steamy start to the weekend on Friday morning with a temperature around 77 for many of us from the Northshore to the South Shore.Look for a similar day on Friday as what we did on Thursday. We'll fight through another very hot and humid day with more Heat Advisories and Weather Impact Days.Storms might be similar to what we went through on Thursday too. Morning storms will reside just along and off the coast, then move on shore by the afternoon hours and be at their peak into the evening hours. We'll need to beware of a few possibly severe storms with winds over 58 mph and very heavy rainfall.Saturday could find a little break from the heat and rain. It will still be hot, but the heat index might drop just below heat advisory criteria, so we've dropped the impact day.Rain chances look to drop to around a 30% chance of a widely scattered, to isolated storm or two.A front nears from the north this weekend and could bring in a line of storms by Saturday night, but appears more likely Sunday night. The latest data are more positive in bringing in slightly drier and a degree or two cooler air dropping in for next week. Highs will still be around 95, but with lower humidity it won't feel nearly as oppressively hot!We might finally start to see the break in this heat wave. Expect storms Friday and possibly Saturday and Sunday night, but look for the chance of more comfortable air dropping in next week!Have a safe, and nice night!- Devon
