Cassie Schirm

Investigative Reporter

Cassie Schirm is an award-winning journalist, who has reported across the country from Africa to Alaska to tell stories that make an impact in the community. Cassie joined the WDSU family in July 2022 as an investigative reporter.

Before WDSU she served as a reporter at ABC 45 News in Greensboro, North Carolina where she led the station breaking stories that gained national attention. She also isn’t new to Louisiana, she worked in Lafayette as an anchor and reporter at News 15 where she covered Hurricane Laura when it hit Lake Charles and corruption in the local city government.

Cassie has a passion for people and giving others a voice, especially those who can’t speak for themselves. She says that passion is what drives her to be a journalist, because she knows that a single story can change someone’s life.

Cassie was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and went to school at University of Arkansas where she graduated with a broadcast journalism degree. Her journalism career has taken her from Fayetteville, to Africa, to Bolivia, to Montana, to Alaska, to North Carolina and to Louisiana. She is so excited to put roots down and make New Orleans her new home. She says she has already fallen in love with the city, the food and the people.

When she’s not working she’s outdoors fishing, hiking with her pup Coco, working out with her F45 community, listening to live music or trying new things.

If you have a news tip or would like to send Cassie a friendly hello, be sure to message her on her WDSU Twitter or Facebook.
