Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin completes federal probation for bribery conviction
EGYPT. WELL, WELCOME TO SPRING. IT DOESN’T FEEL LIKE THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING TO YOU. IF YOU HAVE BEEN OUTSIDE, YOUR ANSWER IS PROBABLY NO. BUT THIS ISN’T ACTUALLY THE FIRST TIME WE’VE STARTED OUT SPRING WITH TEMPERATURES AS LOW AS THEY ARE. SO IT IS NOT A FREQUENT OCCURRENCE. HOWEVER, LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT’S GOING ON THROUGH OUR SATELLITE PICTURE. YOU CAN SEE HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING IN FROM THE WEST, AND THAT’S BRINGING US THE NORTHERLY WINDS THAT WE’RE EXPERIENCING. SO FAR THIS MORNING. THE WINDS ARE KIND OF ELEVATED. IF THEY WERE CALM OR LIGHT OR LIGHTER THAN OUR TEMPERATURES WOULD BE LOWER. BUT AS YOU CAN SEE, I SHOWED YOU THIS YESTERDAY AND THE TEMPERATURES TO THE NORTH OF US WERE IN THE 30S AND THE 40S. THAT AIR HAS MADE ITS WAY INTO SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA AND ACROSS THE SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES. SO WE’RE ALL EXPERIENCING SOME UNUSUALLY LOW TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW. AND YESTERDAY MORNING WHEN WE WERE TALKING TO YOU ABOUT THE COLD TEMPERATURES, WE WERE TELLING YOU THAT THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ISSUED A FREEZE WATCH FOR THESE AREAS ON NORTHERN TANGIPAHOA AND WASHINGTON PARISH THAT HAS SINCE YESTERDAY BECAME A FREEZE WARNING. IT COVERS THE NORTHERN HALF OF TANGIPAHOA PARISH AND NOW IT COVERS PEARL RIVER COUNTY AS WELL. SO THAT IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8:00 THIS MORNING. SO BIG HEADS UP FOR YOU THERE. IF YOU’RE ABOUT TO HEAD, HEAD OUT THE DOOR. THE TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE BOARD OR DRAMATICALLY LOWER THAN THEY WERE AT THIS TIME YESTERDAY. OUR TEMPERATURES 15 TO 23 DEGREES COLDER THAN THEY WERE AT THIS TIME YESTERDAY, WHICH MEANS YOU’RE AT 39 IN BOGALUSA, 36 OVER IN HAMMOND, SLIDELL YOU’RE AT 41 DOWN HERE ON THE SOUTH SHORE. TEMPERATURES FOR THE MOST PART ARE IN THE MID TO THE UPPER 40S, LOW 40S ON THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST. WINDS ARE BLOWING AT 22MPH OVER THE LAKEFRONT. TEN IN BELLE CHASE, 12 OVER IN GALLIANO A LOT LIGHTER ON THE NORTH SHORE. THEY’RE GUSTING UP TO 23 OVER IN KENNER AND 21 MILE PER HOUR WIND GUSTS OVER IN GALLIANO THIS MORNING. SO IT FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES FEELS LIKE 36 OVER IN HAMMOND, FEELS LIKE 41 IN SLIDELL, AND SOME LOW TEMPERATURES ON THE NORTH ON THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST AS WELL. SO IF THE KIDS ARE UP AND GETTING READY FOR THE BUS STOP THIS MORNING, THE TEMPERATURES AND FEEL LIKE TEMPERATURES ANYWHERE FROM 34 TO ABOUT 43 DEGREES. SO THEY’RE GOING TO NEED A SWEATSHIRT OR A JACKET THIS MORNING, AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT’S GOING TO BE PRETTY CHILLY THIS AFTERNOON AS WELL. BUT YOU CAN LEAVE THE UMBRELLA AT HOME. THE RADAR PICTURE IS CLEAR RIGHT NOW. NOT EXPECTING THIS TO CHANGE AT ALL TODAY. AND WE MAY SEE A SLIGHT CHANGE TOMORROW, BUT NOT A BIG CHANGE. I THINK. AGAIN, BY 7 A.M. TEMPERATURES MAY BE FALLING TO LIKE AROUND 34 DEGREES ACROSS THE NORTH SHORE. UPPER 30S, LOW 40S DOWN HERE ON THE SOUTH SHORE AND UNDER SOME MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES THIS AFTERNOON I’M EXPECTING YOUR HIGHS TO RISE INTO THE UPPER 50S TO THE LOW 60S. SO A CHILLY DAY TODAY. I THINK THE WINDS THIS AFTERNOON ARE GOING TO BE A LOT LIGHTER TOMORROW MORNING THE CLOUD COVER STARTS RETURNING. WE’LL WAKE TO TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 30S TO THE LOW 40S, AND YOUR AFTERNOON HIGHS WILL ONCE AGAIN BE IN THE UPPER 60S TO THE LOW 70S. SO HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR WDSU FIRST WARNING SEVEN DAY FORECAST. THE TEMPERATURES ON THE WAY UP BETWEEN TODAY AND TOMORROW. THERE’S THE RAINFALL RETURNING TO US ON THURSDAY 50 MAYBE A 60% CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND STORMS IN THE FORECAST AND THEN INTO YOUR FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY RAIN CHANCES GO AWAY AND THE TEMPERATURES ARE BACK IN THE 70S AROUND WHERE THEY SHOULD BE A
