Alright, I guess if we could start, I saw you put *** tweet out saying uptown new Orleans is *** beautiful place. You live here. It's *** beautiful day. Why does this area resonate with you and your family. There's just *** lot of character and you know, when we moved in here got *** package from *** next door neighbor, *** pie from the other neighbor, I think people just here, they embraced us right away. Um you know, we didn't know what to expect that I didn't really come down here with my family and really preview the city on, on talking to Griff. We just accepted the deal and we're open to come down and exploring and it was the next step next chapter in the book for our family and it's been great. Um trees here in the park and you have two dogs that I walk often and just that the character of this area has really has really been great and feels like home for us. On *** lighthearted note, you grew up in Alaska. Have you gotten used to the heat and humidity of this place yet? I love it. You know, some, it's not north Carolina heat and humidity, but I did get an introduction in Durham to the, to the heat and humidity, but this is obviously *** different level. So for *** couple of months it's *** little much but I enjoy it. We enjoy it. The teams that you built. I loved following you in Brooklyn with what you all, you had nothing in Brooklyn and you kind of built it from the ashes, This, you had more. But the guys you've invested in seemed like they all kind of fit *** certain mold character heart team first dedication, all those things executives say we want it. But how do you find it and identify it and make sure that it's not, it's not just rhetoric, it's reality. Yeah. I think it's Griff and I talked about it all the time. We talked to bryce and Graham about going out and I think our scouting staff understands the importance of character and we do *** lot of digging *** lot of gathering of information to make sure these are the guys are gonna fit what we're trying to do here. Um, and and make sure, you know, more than anything, it's like, alright, well as Willie Green gonna put him on the court, you know, that's important too. But um, we have *** special group of guys and those are guys that we bring in. They have to fit that group of like you said, high character, being competitive and being about this organization, about this team first and we've been fortunate to find those kind of guys. The next thing I was gonna ask you was about the team as far as this city, we've never had any real basketball success. It's kind of like I look at it like fresh snow. So to say, what would it mean for you and this team and this group to bring basketball success championship success to *** place that's really never experienced anything like that before? I think that's that's our goal here, is to have is to make it happen and keep it happen here in terms of bringing that that level of success and that level of competitive nature to *** team, it's like we want to have sustained success, that's what Griff and I have talked about when we got here is we don't want to have just one year here, one year, there are two years here, we want to bring *** sustained success here and we know it's difficult, we know in the past that *** lot of guys have not, this hasn't been *** free agent destination. We understand the formula, you know, whether we're drafting guys, we gotta keep these guys here, we want to create an atmosphere, we want to create an environment with these guys, want to be here, where they want to stay. Um and we think we have *** really good group of guys and getting C. J. To commit to extend and getting Z to be here and Brandon to be here, we have *** really core group with our young guys, I think we can do that here, how hard was it because having faith is one thing, but when you don't have those tangible results right away, which you didn't have right away. Not that you question yourself, but how hard is it for the outside world? You know, looking at you putting you under the microscope and saying why not this, can they do it? Where is the success and now that you are having it *** little bit? Was it hard those first few years before things started to seem more real? I think you just keep working and and for me it's I've always just ignored the outside voices and I think I think I understand what winning looks like. I've been around *** lot of winning for my whole life. So I know if we're moving in the right direction or at least I feel if we're moving in the right direction, I always felt the people that we had cared, we just weren't winning yet. So I thought it was an eventuality. We gotta keep adding talent, we gotta keep adding character and we're gonna get to that place if we do it the right way and I think we're right on the cusp of it now and we're just gonna keep doing what we've done. But we had *** really strong two months last year and we're hoping to have *** strong 6 to 8 months this year. You came from one of the greatest college basketball programs, I think you would probably say the greatest college basketball program. Sure, of course. Um you had success overseas. You've been part of building championship teams. When do you get *** feeling? Do you get *** feel about this team? You know, when does it click, when do you say? Okay, I feel it like I know it like I just feel something different about this group. And do you have that? That's *** really good question. Um I had the feeling of it going into our last year in Brooklyn. Um you know, we're really bad my first year there and then we took *** step the second year and when you have *** leader, like we had Kenny Atkinson there who was just driven every day and and he's working um and he knows what it takes. Um and we felt that we knew what it takes and, and, and we saw the group building, I think it was *** similar feel here once the CJ and Larry trade happened like we didn't know we would accomplish what we did, but we were starting to build even before that trade happened and they believed in willy and they believed in the coaching staff and I think they were starting to believe in each other and when you add *** couple of vet presences to have them say, know what you're believing is real, like we can get to the playoffs, we can or we can get to the plan, we can beat these two teams and get to the playoffs from *** guy that has done it. That's way more impactful from than from staff for *** coaching staff um who are saying basically the same things and I think that's what we have now is now they have *** field two of even those six games in the playoffs, playing against the team with the best record. These guys believe they can, they can feel it. So it's it's us seeing the character, but it's then seeing the guys who believe it and that's the most important part when you're when those guys that are out on the floor believe that they can do something. That's when you know, okay, now now let's go. Just *** couple of more questions here, as far as Willie Green when he was hired, you talked about playing against him and told the story about kind of knowing him from, I guess an overseas trip that his team had taken. How much have you seen him because investing in *** young coach, that's the first time head coach that's like 40 years old. I mean that takes *** leap of faith. How much have you seen him grow and how confident going in the year to do you feel about him? So I think all the confidence I needed in him was when we were three and 16 and we, you know, griff talked to him *** bit and I talked to him *** bit and he was very like trading this is who I am. This is who we're going to be. I don't know how long it's gonna take, but I'm not changing from our approach because I know this approach with these character guys, we're going to get there with this group, we're just kind of behind the eight ball *** bit because of injuries or not having enough time um with me and my staff and knowing the players and he just was very confident in his approach with his staff. There was never any doubt that this approach is going to work and then fast forward *** few months and it did work and we're in the playoffs and we're competing against the best regular season team in the league. So I think that was was great for him too to understand that this approach and my mindset, I was correct in that and so he's going to continue to have the same mindset going into this season where he has that behind him, he has those relationships with the staff and now he understands his team and his players even more. And just final question here, how nice is it when you walk around the city and people want to talk about the team, the coach, what you're doing and they don't just yell out Alaskan assassin, it's fun like uh you know, my my both my boys play sports at their school at Newman. Um and so whether it's basketball or whether it's football right now and I'm around the parents, they want to talk, they want to talk hoops, they want to talk pelicans, they wanna talk lineups um and and they're very complimentary towards what we've done in the front office and what will be Green has done in our, in our group. They say we have *** lot of fun watching those guys and their run last year and we're super excited about watching what this next season has to bring. So it's great walking around and seeing *** lot of different pills, hats and, and uh, and T shirts, especially from people that, you know, went to those playoff games. So, um, it's gonna be fun seeing those, those faces in the stands this year.
