For many, the idea of floating away from real life and traveling all over the world is a recurring fantasy. Arkup, a company based in Miami, Florida, might be able to turn that dream into a reality.
Arkup’s homes combine high-end real estate with ocean living into a completely self-sufficient houseboat. At 4,350 square feet, the Arkup features a main and upper deck consisting of four king-sized bedrooms, an open concept living room kitchen and dining room, and a two-berth crew cabin that can be used as an additional office, bathroom or laundry room. The master suite has a walk-in closet, balcony and free-standing Jacuzzi, according to TopTenRealEstateListings.com.
Homeowners will always enjoy sweeping, stunning views of their backyard — the ocean — thanks to the Arkup’s floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor balcony.
Able to withstand a Category 4 hurricane, the Arkup has four spuds that lift the home out of the water in case of storm surges or flooding. According to Nicholas Derouin, managing director and co-founder of Arkup, these spuds act as anchors for the houseboat and can be rescinded to move the Arkup to its next location.
With 2,300 square feet of solar panels, waste management, rainwater harvesting and purification systems and qualified as no fuel and zero emissions, the Arkup is not just a luxurious choice but a sustainable one as well.
Homeowners can customize their own Arkup starting at $5.5 million up to $12 million. Interested seafarers can charter the Arkup before making their decision for $6,000 a night for eight guests.
Another added luxury: no property taxes. According to Derouin, "These floating homes are actually recreational vessels and [are] registered as such, no real estate tax."
If you’re not in the market for a fixer-upper, the current model home in Miami is listed at $5.9 million completely furnished and decorated.
